Greensleeves Inc. Wins Decade Award
The nation’s largest association of landscape professionals (PLANET) has awarded the prized Decade Award to Greensleeves Inc. for the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Miami, Florida. Originally awarded a Grand Award in 2000, the PLANET Decade Award can be obtained by firms who have proven outstanding plant care and consistently excellent appearance over a period of ten years after the Grand Award was received. The PLANET Decade award is coveted as it is rarely given to more than four firms per year.
While receiving the award enthusiastically, Debra Smeltzer, CEO of Greensleeves, and Jim Zielser, said that award-winning performance is what their company delivers every day to every client. But they went on to say that this award is very special because it recognizes that Greensleeves provided a consistently high level of service over a period of a full ten years to a very special client, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel..

Environmental Mitigation

Greensleeves has been involved in the replanting of 20 acres of wetlands in western Miami Dade County for the last 2 years. In April of 2012 Greensleeves was awarded the enviromental monitoring of the entire 49 acres located in the Beacon Lakes Development District. The project is wonderful as it was designed to restore our native wetlands and is monitored by DERM and the South Florida Water Management District. Environmetnal Mitigation is not new to Greensleeves as their first project was in 1986, for the Rusty Pelican of Key Biscayne, when a rip rap planter was built and replanted with thousands of Red Mangroves.
