About Us
Jim and Debra Ziesler
For 35 years Greensleeves thrived in Miami, and now we turn a page and have come home to our roots- Texas. Being a GLT trained company in green walls and roofs, growing vertically is commonplace for the team, and thus was the perfect fit with Freight Farms.
Freight Farms allows one to Grow Three Acres in One Shipping Container, with Hydroponics. Hydroponics is the cultivation of plants by placing the roots in liquid nutrient solutions rather than in soil; soilless growth of plants. Freight farms are equipped with Farmhand software allowing Farmers to consistently grow the same quality and quantity week after week.
What are the benefits, to the end user of growing hydroponically in a Farming System?
Save Water
Hydroponic growing systems use 90 percent less water than soil-based farming by recapturing & recycling water, efficiently.
Don't use herbicides
Because food grows inside away from pests, there's no need for any harmful herbicides or pesticides.
Use space wisely
A hydroponic farm can grow 3-10 times the number of crops in the same amount of space as traditional farmland.
Keep plants safe
Food is typically vulnerable to extreme weather and pests. Hydroponic systems set up indoors are removed from harmful elements.
Sustainability
Freight Farms is sustainable farming by reducing water & pesticides, lowering carbon footprint, & supporting local food systems.
